Helen and John welcome you to Steep Meadow - we hope you enjoy your stay.
Steep Meadow is an ecologically built house set on a steep hillside - hence its name Steep Meadow. It is on three floors overlooking the glorious Gloucestershire countryside. It is very comfortably furnished and is the ideal place for a relaxing break or walking weekend.
The bedrooms are built into the hillside which provides insulation yet you still get marvellous views from the windows and as the window ledges are just above ground level you can watch the wildlife going about its business.

Gardening is tricky but we have built up a large repertoire of wildlife resistant plants. Our garden is regularly visited by foxes, badgers, deer, rabbits, buzzards and many other birds.
Steep Meadow is also a smallholding and we have several types of livestock.
We keep poultry - Maran and Croad Langshan hens who produce beautiful large brown speckled eggs - ideal for breakfasts!
We also have three brown goats whose main job is to act as field mowers - they are extremely good at their job as they just love brambles, nettles, docks and other weeds as well as grass. You are welcome to visit them as they are always interested in what is going on.

Lily
We keep traditional old breeds of pigs - Gloucestershire Old Spots or Oxford Sandy and Blacks or Tamworths who provide us with delicious bacon and sausages which are served as part of our Steep Meadow breakfasts.

There is a small orchard of old Gloucestershire varieties of apples which is now starting to mature and we grow local plums. The hedgerows provide an endless variety of fruits and berries for homemade jams and jellies for breakfasts and afternoon teas.

We have two small dogs from the local rescue centre so with all our other livestock we can only accommodate one very well behaved dog with their own bedding. We also have two rescue cats.
