We believe that we have a responsibility to minimize the effect that we have on the environment in general, and the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean in particular.
We feel very fortunate to live in a very beautiful part of the England. Steep Meadow House was built from local materials using local labour and a local architect, it is designed to be energy efficient and comfortable.
We offer you local food, a warm and friendly atmosphere in a house that meets the criteria as an ecological and sustainable building - we also do as much as we can to support the environment and the local community.
- Our priorities are:
• Helping guests to enjoy The Forest of Dean and Wye valley’s scenery, natural life and local produce
• Minimising our consumption of energy, without compromising guests’ enjoyment
• Maximising our recycling and ensuring our guests have facilities to recycle as well
• Buying local produce, organic where possible. We favour Fair Trade products and really try to minimise air miles
• Seeking to prevent pollution
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental legislation
• Promoting the appreciation of our environmental improvements to our guests
• Offering free collection from Lydney Station or Coleford to those guests arriving on public transport.
• Encouraging our visitors to enjoy the countryside by following the Country Code.
There is information in the Guests folder in the bedrooms that has suggestions on how to be a greener visitor.
