Flour Shipton
Mill In Gloucestershire is where we buy our organic flours - Organic
Strong Plain White, Organic Spelt and Organic Stoneground Wholemeal. We make fresh bread every day, baked in the aga. Oil We use R oil - a cold pressed rapeseed oil from the Cotswolds. R-Oil has just 6% saturated fat content, lower than most olive oils which have around 14% and sunflower oil which has 10% and also has a delicious nutty flavour Milk We have a local Milk supplier who still delivers milk in reused glass bottles
Pork Pork joints, sausages, bacon and ham are all from our own pigs and they are slaughtered and butchered locally so their food miles are less than 10. Vegetables We buy vegetables from local market, neighbours and farmer's market as our vegetable garden is till suffering from an invasion of goats All the tea and sugar are Fair Trade. Jams The jams and marmalades are home made whenever possible or bought from Staunton market or Claire's Kitchen in Chepstow. Cheese We buy Mrs Smart's Double Gloucester and Hills fresh cheese and camembert. Their Camembert was awarded a Gold medal at the British Cheese Awards in October 2008. In season we make our own apple juices from the apples in the orchard.
