If you love trees then you will love the countryside around Steep Meadow.

We are very lucky to be in the Wye Valley ANOB and the Royal Forest of Dean.

The Wye Valley has Lady Park Wood an example of unmanaged woodland and it is considered to be one of Britain's most important areas for woodland conservation. Here you can see beech, oak, birch, small- and large-leaved lime, ash, wych elm and birch plus maple, aspen, cherry, yew, whitebeam and  alder.

There are many beautiful woods around Steep Meadow to walk to - in all directions. Highmeadow Woods, Bunjups Wood,Lord's Wood and of course you can walk down through mixed woodland to the Wye.

The Forest of Dean is full of walks and view points. We have maps and information for you. Beechenhurst is a lovely place to walk from and where you can see the Cyril Hart Arboretum - which contains over 400 trees including 180 feature trees.

Puzzlewood is a maze of meandering pathways through beautiful ancient woodland. The paths wind through gulleys and moss covered rocks, over bridges and through fantastic tree and rock formations. It is just the other side of Coleford from Steep Meadow.
